Our Tempranillo vineyard is set atop the estate’s rocky, windswept and rugged ridge on shattered shale with limestone origins. With ball-bearings for berries amidst tight bunches, the Tempranillo is amplified by ripe flavours that continue dancing well after the last chorus has been sung.
Dulcet aromas of pouch tobacco / peppery tobacco leaf and roasted coffee beans set the tone, reverberating from nose to palate to olfactory. Plump wild black cherries and fermented soy show during the crescendo as the vibrant pomegranate-like acidity is picked up and strung along by the fine-grained, mature tannins. Dark chocolate lingers in a mist of orange rind on the finish; the complex blend of components integrated harmoniously through the palate.
The 2018 Tempranillo will reward patience as we knowingly expect it to blossom well after it sells out.
Try with salt-grilled sardines and Portuguese salad.
