2022 Carinyena Monastrell
Driven by the sustainable winemaking and the terroir-driven approach of the winemakers of northern Spain, this blend is indicative of the heights that can be achieved when drought tolerant varieties are planted in dry regions. Both grapes are perfectly suited to a Mediterranean climate of warm days and temperate nights. We consciously select grapes that will not only withstand the heat but thrive in it.
The thick skinned Carinyena can be a decidedly rugged grape. Once the world’s most widely planted grape, now largely forgotten, this variety is ready for its comeback. It creates textural, tannic wines with plush fruit and high acid. In this blend, this is tempered with the softer, smoother Monastrell (Mourvèdre) to create a juicy picnic-style wine, made to be enjoyed slightly chilled.
