2023  Grenache

McLaren Vale is one of the world’s great Grenache growing regions. The wines made here are expressive and nuanced, with this grape being a focus of Samuel’s Gorge since its inception.

We are fortunate to source Grenache grapes from a select handful of local vineyards. Mostly dry-grown, these are established vineyards with vines of up to 80 years of age. These sites produce aromatic, flavour-filled fruit, the perfect foundations for this elegant, intricate wine.

The 2023 Grenache unfurls with freshness, displaying notes of strawberries, rose petals and vibrant red cherries. This flows into an array of more savoury and herbal elements, with bay leaves, thyme and native cypress pine. On the palate this wine reveals flavours of orange sherbet, silted riverbed, salty plum, gala apple, and savoiardi biscuit. These complex flavours are complemented by soft, supple tannins, creating a balanced, thought-provoking wine. The 2023 Grenache is a wine of polyphony and effortless drinkability.
