2013 Capisce Chardonnay
In my time I've ridden the Chardonnay rollercoaster. I have also been intrigued by the dichotomy between Chablis and the warmer regions of Burgundy. This study takes us to the steep, shale hillsides of Lenswood and Carey Gully echoing the position of the vineyards of the Premier Cru's of Burgundy.
This cool, sunlight drenched corner of the Hills offers up fragrant aromas of green apple, honeydew melon and white nectarine; lemon zest and minerals. 100% wild ferment in barrel on lees bestow subtle yeast derived brewing notes of toasted brioche, oven warmed cashews and the Samuel’s Gorge signature savoury note. Textural, refreshing, perfect for summer - with a nod to Kerrie and Tanya for the inspiration.
