2019 Mosaic Of Dreams

2019  Mosaic Of Dreams

Grenache Mourvèdre Syrah Carignan

The Mosaic of Dreams is an endeavour to make a contemporary wine of structure and finesse, inspired by the Mediterranean shores of southern France. This Grenache driven blend harmoniously balances the soft spice range of Mourvèdre, the elegance of Syrah and the plush fruit of Carignan.

This wine is inherently floral, displaying notes of dried rose, wild rosella flower and violets. This softness and elegance is supported by more structural notes of Oolong tea, black pepper and dried spice.

On the palate there is sun-kissed field strawberry, rich plum and more of that gentle roasted tea tannin that lends an intriguing earthiness to the wine. This wine lingers, with a very long finish weaving its way across the palate, slowly revealing more of its personality with each sip.

The 2019 Mosaic of Dreams is a wine of marvellous complexity that will develop and evolve with the passing of time. Enjoy this with traditional Peking Duck and all its accompaniments.

A quintessential southern Rhône blend, prevailing across the Pyrenees, too, into parts of Spain. The Vale's future. Grenache dominant (55%), with a good whack of mourvèdre (28%). Carignan and syrah, bed-fellows. Red cherry, raspberry liqueur, bergamot, pepper, clove, olive, thyme and sassafras. The oak, apparent. Reliant a bit too much on oak and pulpiness rather than extraction of grape tannins. Needs a bit more courage. Delicious on the cooler side. 94 points.

A lighter, medium-depth of colour with traces of purple and brick-red. There are sweet raspberry-jammy ripe fruit aromas plus earthy notes, dried herbs and dried flowers, and the palate is full-bodied and gutsy with bold tannins and earthy, meaty overtones that linger. A robust red that will reward patient cellaring. 91 points.
