2023  Grüner Veltliner

A relative newcomer to the Australian wine game, this Austrian grape has firmly and quickly established a new home in the cooler viticultural zone of the Adelaide Hills. For us at Samuel’s Gorge it is a white grape of intrigue. A grape that is not yet embraced by the masses as commonplace, a grape with the freedom to define and redefine itself as the vintages roll on.

Grüner Veltliner has plenty of character and can vary wildly depending on where the grapes sit on the spectrum of ripeness. It’s delicate stone fruit and floral flavours are balanced with spiciness, making it the perfect accompaniment to Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese flavours. This wine is made to enjoy with friends on a balmy summer’s evening, leaning over a hibachi grill, twirling loaded skewers over glowing coals.
